Tdap for Rising 7th Graders

Attention Parents of Rising Seventh Graders:

Below is a Required Change to the South Carolina Immunization law for when your child will be entering the seventh grade:

SC DHEC is providing important information in advance of a future immunization requirement.  This requirement begins with the 2014-2015 school year.

·         One (1) dose of Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) administered on or after the 7th birthday will be required for all seventh graders.  It is strongly recommended that adolescents who have not yet received a dose of Tdap vaccine be immunized in advance of this requirement. 

·         Please bring an updated shot record to your school nurse as soon as your child has received the Tdap vaccine.  Do not wait until your child is entering the 7^th grade to get the shot.
