The Auntie Karen Foundation Announces the 11th Annual Young Entrepreneurs Conference



 Columbia, S.C. Auntie Karen’s 11th Annual Young Entrepreneurs Conference is scheduled for October 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the campus of Benedict College in Columbia, SC. The founder Karen Alexander states, “Our mission is to continue to create a program that will nurture entrepreneurship in young people. We want to provide conference attendees with the opportunity to gain skills in areas not traditionally afforded to them.”

This one day event serves as a world-class conference to bring youth 7 to 22 from across this state and region together to gain skills in areas not traditionally afforded to them.  Each year, up to 200 students from across the region participate in this thought provoking conference, which is offered through a cooperative effort between the Auntie Karen Foundation, Benedict College School of Business and various community sponsors. This year our theme is “The Art of Business”. Subject areas include:  identifying entrepreneurial skills, marketing your business, understanding business finance tools.  In addition students will interact with community, business, sports and entertainment leaders.

Featured entrepreneurs include: Lee Livingston, Cannine Find, 2012 Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Joshua Eaddy, Cakes by Josh; Horizon Band;Sheneka Jackson-Kinsey and more.

In addition to the conference, there is “Successville” the Youth Business Expo and Showcase. “Successville” is free and open to the public from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Benedict College gym.    The showcase will include Young Entrepreneurs, Dancers and Musical Acts.

Conference information:  Registered participants: October 12, 2013 from 9 am to 4 pm at Benedict College.  Registered participants will receive breakfast and lunch. The cost of the conference is $ 25.00 per student; Group Rate (10 +) is $ 17.00 per student.       Pre-registration is available and encouraged.  Onsite registration takes place from 8:15 AM to 8:45 AM the day of the conference. Workshops take place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch1:00 PM
