Summit Student to compete in the State Level Competion of National Geographic Bee

 Aileen Flothmann-Vargas, 7th Grade student, has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee on April 1st at the Brookland Baptist Conference Center. Way to go, Aileen!

2016 Black History Month Assembly

On Thursday, February 25, 2016, Summit Parkway Middle held its annual Black History Month Assembly.  This year's guest speaker was Alex English, Retired NBA basketball player.  Mr. English told the students about his life growing up in downtown Columbia.  He encouraged them to find their local heroes. We also enjoyed amazing performances from our String Explosion, Summit Singers, and some of our 7th Grade Open-Mic Participants.  Following the assembly, our Athletic Department hosted a reception for Mr. English.

Richland Two will be collecting NEW and GENTLY USED books appropriate for Pre-K to second grade reading levels. Books donated to R2 Ready To Read will be distributed to the following elementary schools and day cares that feed into these schools. Bridge Creek - Catawba Trail - Conder - Forest Lake - Joseph Keels - Killian - Lonnie B. Nelson - North Springs - Polo Road - Pontiac - Rice Creek - Sandlapper - Windsor Book bins will be placed in our Media Center for collection.

SPMS Boys Basketball Team Win the Metro City Classic for the 3rd Year in a Row

Congratulations to the SPMS Boys Basketball team. On Saturday, February 13th, they won the Metro City Classic for the third year in a row.  Congratulations to 8th Grader Maddux Harrell, who received All Tournament and Most Valuable Player honors.


 We want to recognize the coaches, players, cheerleaders, parents, students and staff for the  outstanding dedication and support to our program.

Summit Parkway Orchestra performed ay SCMEA Convention


On Friday, February 5, the Summit Parkway Orchestra, under the direction of Pam Speas, performed at  the South Carolina Music Educators Association Conference held in Columbia, SC.  The 7th and 8th grade students worked hard to prepare for this prestigious opportunity. Great job, Eagles!
