Volleyball and football games cancelled for today

The volleyball and football games scheduled for today between Summit Parkway and Kelly Mill at Kelly Mill Middle School has been cancelled due to weather damage to facilities. The principals and athletic directors at both schools are working together to reschedule the games. This information will be posted by both schools once it has been finalized. 

Student athletes will take their regularly scheduled mode of transportation home. There are no practices scheduled for today.

R2 Half Day Announcement

RICHLAND TWO ANNOUNCES HALF-DAY SCHEDULE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER

 

Richland School District Two will operate on a half-day schedule on Friday, September 2, due to the potential for severe weather that may impact travel conditions in the afternoon. The following dismissal schedule will be implemented.

 

Middle schools will dismiss at 10:45 a.m.

Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.

High schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

District offices will close at 2 p.m.

 

All after-school events and activities, including after-school care, are canceled on Friday, September 2, at all Richland Two schools.

PSAT will be given at Summit Parkway Middle School on Wednesday ,October 19 from 7:45 to about 11:45. The deadline to register is Friday, Oct 16.  The cost is based on your son/daughter lunch status and can be paid online or you can send a check or cash payable to Summit Parkway Middle. 

AVID TIMES.......

SPMS Volleyball Try-outs 2016

Any rising 7th or 8th grade student interested in trying out for the 2016 SPMS Volleyball team will need to meet Coach Strickland in the gym on August 8, 9, 11, 12 from 9 am until 11 am.  Interested students must be present ALL 4 DAYS if they want to be considered for the team.  

In order for athletes to participate, they must submit a completed athletic packet to the athletic director, Mrs. Calvernetta W. Brown, no later than 12 noon on  Friday, August 5, 2016.  A completed packet includes a physical completed by the athlete's physician, a history form completed by the athlete's parent, Richland School District health form #1 (concussion awareness & permission to participate in sports), Richland School District health form #2 (insurance information), and a copy of the athlete's birth certificate.  

Forms can be hand delivered to the athletic director at the school, faxed to 803-699-3682 care of Mrs. Calvernetta W. Brown, or scanned and emailed to cabrown@richland2.org. 

Any forms submitted late may hinder the athlete's name from being placed on the tryout list which could negatively affect their ability to try out.  

SPM Football Workouts

Rising 7^th and 8^th grade students interested in participating in football for the Fall 2016 season may participate in summer workouts with Coach J. Smith and his football staff.  The schedule is listed below:

~ June 16, 20, 21, 23, 27, 28, 30 from 5 – 7 pm

~ July 18, 19, 21 from 5 - 7 pm.

~ All athletes will report to Coach J. Smith in the gym on all dates.

~ In order to participate, athletes must have a completed athletic packet (including a physical completed by a physician, a history form, health forms 1 & 2, and a copy of the athlete’s birth certificate) on file with the athletic director, Mrs. Calvernetta W. Brown.  Athletes will not be allowed to participate in workout seasons if this packet has not been submitted in its entirety. 

~ Attendance will be taken on each workout day.  There is no penalty for missing a workout session. 

~ There will be NO workout session on June 14, 2016 because SPMS is a voting site for the democratic primary. 

~ There will be NO workout sessions during the week of July 4^th because the school is closed the entire week for the Independence Day observance. 

~ There will be NO workout sessions during the week of July 11^th.

~ Tryouts are scheduled for August 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd from 5 – 7 pm.

CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS .........

RISING 6TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT........

On Monday, May 23rd

 Summit Parkway Middle School will be hosting a Rising 6th Grade Parent Night in the gymnasium.  

This event will start at 6 p.m. and last until 7.  

We invite you to come and learn about the wonders that 6th Grade at Summit Parkway Middle School holds in store for you next year.

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd at 8:15 am.  Students are asked wear their "Sunday Best" while still following school dress code.  In order to be eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony students must have a yearlong average of 70 or above in their core academic classes as well as paid all school & cafeteria fees.  (The preferred method of school fee payment is online.  Go to Parent Portal atparents.richland2.org and click on “Student Fees”.  This method is also the quickest way for the school become aware that fees have been paid.)

8th Grade Dance

 8th Graders are Rocking the 80's!!

The 8th grade dance will be held Thursday, May 26th from 5:00-6:30 pm.  The dance is for all current 8th grade students here at Summit Parkway Middle School.  Students are required to wear their school ID.   The dance is not a prom of any kind.  This year students are encouraged to dress as their favorite 80's celebrity while still following school dress code.  Drop off and pick up will be in the bus loop located in the back of the school.
